The Yamhill Carlton Music Program includes over 100 students. We're part of the Yamhill Carlton School District, a rural K-12 program of 1100+ students in Yamhill, Oregon (about one hour southwest of Portland). Three leveled ensembles are offered to students 6th-12th grades: Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced/ High School Bands and Orchestras. Throughout the school year, we typically host several concerts and students attend field trips and festivals.
YC Music offers exciting and equitable musical opportunities and artistic moments to students, parents, the community in Yamhill, Carlton, and neighboring communities, to learn music literacy and enjoyment through musical performance. We work to build positive school and community wide relationships and bring people together with the power of music.
The music program at Yamhill Carlton strives to enrich and improve the lives of students through various musical experiences. High standards are set for each student both academically and in performance. While the music program competes at several festivals and competitions with a wide variety of ensembles, the focus is to grow both as people and musicians. It is our mission that each student receives a rewarding, enriching, and aesthetic experience through music. Music is about "banding" people together to work toward a common goal. The highest level of excellence is attained through this attitude and it is this attitude that is the basis of our program.
